Hàn Quốc và Nhật Bản — hai điểm đến "đầu danh sách" của khách Việt mỗi năm. Cả hai đều đẹp, an toàn, đồ ăn ngon, và đặc biệt phù hợp với khách lần đầu xin visa Đông Bắc Á.
Câu hỏi mình hay nhận: "Em chưa từng xin visa nước nào, nên xin Hàn hay Nhật trước?"
Câu trả lời không đơn giản như mọi người nghĩ. Hai lãnh sự này nhìn hồ sơ rất khác nhau — và chọn sai có thể khiến bạn trượt cả hai.
Hai lãnh sự — hai tính cách rất khác
Khách Việt thường nghĩ Hàn và Nhật giống nhau vì cùng "Đông Bắc Á". Đây là sai lầm.
Lãnh sự Hàn linh hoạt hơn với khách lần đầu, profile trẻ, thu nhập chưa cao. Họ ưu tiên tốc độ + thiện chí du lịch.
Lãnh sự Nhật khắt khe hơn về "câu chuyện thu nhập" — họ muốn thấy sự ổn định, ít quan tâm số dư. Một profile vừa đậu Hàn dễ dàng có thể trượt Nhật vì lý do hoàn toàn khác.
Vì sao chọn nước "đầu tiên" quan trọng
Đông Bắc Á có một quy luật ít người nói: visa đầu tiên ảnh hưởng visa thứ hai.
Có dấu Hàn trong passport sẽ làm hồ sơ Nhật của bạn MẠNH hơn rất nhiều — vì lãnh sự Nhật thấy bạn là khách đã quay về đúng hạn.
Ngược lại, đậu Nhật trước rồi xin Hàn cũng là lợi thế — nhưng không lớn bằng. Hàn ít quan tâm "travel history" hơn Nhật.
Khách thường mắc sai lầm gì
Sai lầm phổ biến: chọn Nhật trước vì "Nhật uy tín hơn". Khách trẻ độc thân thu nhập trung bình → trượt Nhật → giờ có 1 refusal trong passport → xin Hàn cũng khó hơn.
Sai lầm thứ 2: chuẩn bị hồ sơ "giống nhau" cho cả 2 nước. Hàn thoáng chỗ nào, Nhật chặt chỗ đó. Cùng 1 bộ hồ sơ = lệch chiến lược.
Sai lầm thứ 3: nộp Nhật khi chưa từng đi nước ngoài. Nhật không cấm, nhưng tỉ lệ thấp hơn nhiều so với khách đã có 1-2 chuyến quốc tế.
Visa Nhật multi-entry — phần ít người biết
Sau khi có 1-2 visa Nhật ngắn hạn, bạn có thể xin được visa Nhật MULTI-ENTRY 3 năm hoặc 5 năm. Đây là phần ít khách Việt biết.
Multi-entry tiết kiệm RẤT nhiều cho tương lai — nhưng cần biết cách trình bày hồ sơ để được cấp loại dài nhất, không phải loại ngắn nhất.

Korea and Japan — both top of the Vietnamese traveller's list each year. Both beautiful, safe, with great food, and especially suitable for first-time East Asian visa applicants.
Question I get often: "I've never applied for any visa — should I try Korea or Japan first?"
The answer isn't as simple as people think. These two consulates view files very differently — and choosing wrong could fail you on both.
Two consulates — very different personalities
Vietnamese applicants often think Korea and Japan are similar because both are "East Asia". This is a mistake.
Korean officers are more flexible with first-timers, young profiles, mid-range income. They prioritise speed + travel intent.
Japanese officers are stricter about "income story" — they want stability, less interested in absolute balance. A profile that easily got Korea could fail Japan for entirely different reasons.
Why "first country" choice matters
East Asia has a little-discussed rule: your first visa affects your second.
Having a Korea stamp in your passport makes your Japan file MUCH stronger — Japanese officers see you as a returnee who left on time.
The reverse (Japan first, then Korea) is also an advantage — but smaller. Korea cares less about "travel history" than Japan does.
Common mistakes applicants make
Common mistake: applying Japan first because "Japan feels more prestigious". Young single mid-income applicant → refused by Japan → now has 1 refusal in passport → Korea becomes harder too.
Mistake #2: preparing the "same" file for both countries. Korea is flexible where Japan is strict, and vice versa. Same file = wrong strategy.
Mistake #3: applying Japan with zero travel history. Japan doesn't forbid it, but rates are much lower than for clients with 1-2 international trips.
Japan multi-entry — what few know
After 1-2 short-term Japan visas, you can apply for a 3-year or 5-year MULTI-ENTRY Japan visa. This is little known to Vietnamese travellers.
Multi-entry saves a LOT for the future — but you need to know how to present the file to get the longest type, not the shortest.
