DTV Dependent là gì?
Visa phụ thuộc dành cho:
- Vợ/chồng hợp pháp của người có DTV (cần giấy đăng ký kết hôn)
- Con đẻ hoặc con nuôi dưới 20 tuổi của người có DTV
Visa này gắn với DTV chính. Nếu DTV chính hết hạn, DTV Dependent cũng hết hạn. Nếu DTV chính bị hủy, các Dependent cũng mất.
Quy trình: nộp cùng lúc hay sau?
Có 2 cách:
- Cùng lúc: nộp DTV chính + Dependent cùng 1 hồ sơ, cùng 1 ngày. Nhanh hơn, đơn giản hơn.
- Sau khi có DTV chính: nộp Dependent riêng. Cần copy DTV chính + giấy tờ chứng minh quan hệ.
Khuyến nghị: nộp cùng lúc nếu có thể. Tiết kiệm 1 lần đi lại, 1 lần chuẩn bị giấy tờ.
Chi phí thật cho gia đình 4 người
Ví dụ: vợ + chồng + 2 con (10 và 14 tuổi). Chồng là người chính (Workcation), 3 người còn lại là Dependent.
- Phí lãnh sự DTV chính: 10,000 baht (~$280)
- Phí lãnh sự Dependent × 3: 30,000 baht (~$840)
- Phí dịch vụ Visa Help 24h: $300 (chính) + $250 × 3 (dependent) = $1,050
Tổng cộng cho gia đình 4 người: ~$2,170 (khoảng 56 triệu VND).
So với combo gia đình đi du lịch Thái 1 tuần (vé bay + khách sạn ~30-40 triệu), DTV cho phép bạn đi 5 năm — chia ra mỗi chuyến chỉ là một fraction.
Giấy tờ Dependent cần
- Hộ chiếu còn hiệu lực 6 tháng+, 6 trang trắng
- Ảnh visa chuẩn
- Copy DTV chính (nếu nộp sau)
- Copy passport người chính
- Vợ/chồng: giấy đăng ký kết hôn dịch tiếng Anh, công chứng quốc tế (Apostille)
- Con: giấy khai sinh dịch tiếng Anh, công chứng quốc tế
- Sao kê tài chính chứng minh người chính có thể nuôi cả gia đình (tăng yêu cầu lên 1 triệu baht nếu có dependent)
Lưu ý quan trọng: yêu cầu tài chính tăng từ 500K baht lên 1 triệu baht nếu có dependent. Đây là điểm nhiều người không biết.
Apostille — phần khó nhất
Việt Nam đã tham gia Công ước Apostille từ 2014, nhưng quá trình vẫn mất công:
- Dịch giấy đăng ký kết hôn / khai sinh sang tiếng Anh tại văn phòng dịch thuật công chứng
- Đem bản dịch + bản gốc lên Sở Tư pháp công chứng
- Đem giấy đã công chứng lên Bộ Ngoại giao xin Apostille

Con dưới 20 tuổi: chuyện đi học
DTV Dependent KHÔNG cho phép con học chính thức tại trường công Thái. Nhưng con bạn có thể:
- Học trường quốc tế tại Thái (rất phổ biến — Bangkok có 50+ trường quốc tế chất lượng cao)
- Học homeschool hoặc online
- Tham gia khóa học ngắn hạn (Thai language, văn hóa, võ thuật…)
Học phí trường quốc tế Bangkok: 200-800 triệu VND/năm tùy trường. Đắt — nhưng vẫn rẻ hơn quốc tế ở Singapore hoặc HK.
Khi DTV chính hết hạn — gia đình thì sao?
Đây là câu hỏi mình hay được hỏi nhất từ khách gia đình. Câu trả lời thẳng thắn:
- 5 năm sau, người chính phải renew DTV (hoặc chuyển sang loại visa khác)
- Nếu renew: gia đình renew theo
- Nếu chuyển sang Non-B (work permit) hoặc Retirement: cần xin lại visa Dependent loại tương ứng
- Nếu hết hạn không renew: cả gia đình rời Thái
5 năm là thời gian dài để bạn quyết định: ở luôn (chuyển Long-Term Resident hoặc đầu tư BOI) hay quay về VN.

What is the DTV Dependent?
A dependent visa for:
- Legal spouses of DTV holders (marriage certificate required)
- Biological or adopted children under 20 of DTV holders
This visa is tied to the primary DTV. If the primary expires, dependents expire. If the primary is cancelled, dependents go too.
Process: apply together or after?
Two options:
- Together: submit primary DTV + Dependents in one file, same day. Faster, simpler.
- After the primary is approved: submit Dependents separately. Need copy of primary DTV + relationship documents.
Recommended: submit together when possible. Saves a trip, saves paperwork.
Real cost for a family of 4
Example: husband + wife + 2 kids (10 and 14). Husband is primary (Workcation), other three are Dependents.

Documents Dependents need
- Passport valid 6+ months, 6 blank pages
- Standard visa photos
- Copy of primary DTV (if applying after)
- Copy of primary holder's passport
- Spouse: marriage certificate translated to English, internationally notarised (Apostille)
- Children: birth certificate translated to English, internationally notarised
- Financial statements showing primary can support the whole family (requirement increases to 1 million THB with dependents)
Important: financial requirement jumps from 500K THB to 1 million THB when dependents are added. Many people don't know this.
Apostille — the hardest part
Vietnam joined the Apostille Convention in 2014, but the process is still tedious:
- Translate marriage / birth certificate into English at a certified translation office
- Take translation + original to the Department of Justice for notarisation
- Take the notarised document to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for Apostille

Kids under 20: school logistics
DTV Dependent does NOT allow children to attend Thai public schools. But your kids can:

Bangkok international school fees: $8,000-30,000/year depending on school. Expensive — but still cheaper than international in Singapore or Hong Kong.
When the primary DTV expires — what happens to the family?
This is the question family clients ask me most. Honest answer:
- After 5 years, primary must renew DTV (or switch to another visa type)
- If renewed: family renews along
- If switching to Non-B (work permit) or Retirement: need to apply for the corresponding Dependent visa
- If not renewing: whole family leaves Thailand
5 years is enough time to decide: stay long-term (Long-Term Resident or BOI investment) or go back to Vietnam.
